BATTLE OF THE QB"s

In most cases your quarterback is the leader of your offensive team. We have several NFL teams with multiple quarterbacks shooting for that starter position, a chance to lead their team to the playoffs, better yet the Super Bowl! Well, let the drums roll and the battle begin!!!

New York Jets has Kellen Clemens and drafted rookie Mark Sanchez, but there is no doubt that Sanchez will be the starting man for the Jets. I am not so sure what Clemens has done in the past because I don’t recall any special moves or plays he may have had in his career. The Jets are looking at rookie Sanchez as a Flacco, or Big Ben situation (we will see).

Then there is rookie Matt Stafford, who was drafted by the Detroit Lions and competing with 11 year veteran, Daunte Culpepper. Based on the fact that the Detroit Lions are trying to rebuild their team Culpepper might start a couple games but I am sure if he does not have that power punch, Stafford will definitely carry the Lions this season of course it really does matter what the offensive line do… they will have to really protect the rookie in order for him to really be successful this year.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers has 3 quarterbacks, Byron Leftwich, 7 years in the game, Luke McCowen is 6 years in, and then there is the rookie Josh Freeman who wants a shot at the starting position. Not so sure how this may play out, but Leftwich is most likely to start seeing as though the Bucs brought him in several months after they brought in McCowen, then recruited rookie Josh Freeman.

There will not be much battling in San Francisco case. Shaun Hill was the starter while Alex Smith was out and he wasn’t so bad. Smith would have to significantly prove that he is the man in San Fran! This is a no brainer for Mike Singletary, but we will see if he thinks too hard. My bet is Hill will get to start.

Here we go… I am no friend of Brady Quinn for holding out his rookie season (still bitter), so I give this start in Cleveland, to pro bowler, Derek Anderson. Quinn just may finish the season.

Minnesota, Minnesota *smh* Those who know me know that I am so upset with Minnesota for allowing Brett Farve to waste everybody’s time!!! I think it was a slap in the face to Tavaris Jackson. If you don’t want the guy then get rid of him!!! They brought in 31 year old, Sage Rosenfels then allowed Brett Farve to conduct a media circus within the Vikings camp all summer long, just to say… thanks for the consideration, but no thanks. Jackson was effective last year and has to really come out strong in order to reclaim his spot. Rosenfels is a 9 year veteran, but I have no idea what he has done, no really, I have no clue, I would have to look it up… (lol, smiley face).

Those are my calls, now you call it!
