THE GREATEST EVER!!!!

It's a bird, it's a plane, it's super... No wait!!! It's Michael Jeffrey Jordan!!! OH MY GOSH, who will ever forget Michael Jordan!!! All the dunks, all the game winning shots, all the crossovers, all the fade aways and all the championship rings (let me not forget to mention that nobody chews gum like he do)!!!!! Who can top the greatest player to ever play the game of basketball? I know there are many that would beg to differ. Uuummmm, let me see, just to name a few Magic Johnson was good, Dr. J was good, Wilt Chamberlain was good, Larry Bird, Charles Barkley, Shaq, Moses Malone, Kobe is ok (let me stop hate'n), Lebron got skills and the list goes on and on... I just dont think that no one had it or got it like MJ23. Jordan got mad skills on and off the court. Jordan got commercials, shoes, clothes, cologne, movies, videos with Michael Jackson! Whew, i can go on and on. Jordan is a corporation in himself. Ok, let me stop, and get to the point that I am trying to get to. Ok, wait... Let me add that Jordan led the Bulls to 6 NBA titles, no one has done that and one night that man was sick as a dog, and still out played everybody (yall gonna try to tell me that Kobe did that too, huh?). Jordan plays golf, and stepped into the baseball league for a minute. The man is incredible, (sigh) "my hero" (i said it real soft and sweet).

Michael Jordan will be inducted into The Basketball Hall of Fame, September 11, 2009 at Springfield's historic Symphony Hall. The Symphony Hall seats over 2,600. The Hall of Fame, where the ceremony is normally held holds about 1,200 people, but seeing as though Michael Jordan, David Robinson, and coaches Jerry Sloan and C. Vivian Stringer are also being inducted, they moved the location for the special occassion. The Basketball Hall of Fame has also opened up a Michael Jordan exhibit that displays many items throughout MJ's career. I think I am going to make a special field trip just so I can see this!!! I LOVE MJ23!

BUSTED OR BUSTED?

This is for all my NCAA people… Now we all know about the hoopla over Chicago Bulls, Derrick Rose. If you don’t know, let me catch you up real quick. Someone waited till Derrick Rose made it big to turn around and let his little secret out… that another student took his SAT exam for him, which we all know is a huge violation. Rose played for the Memphis Tiger who went 38-2, breaking a NCAA record during the 2007-2008 season, also advancing to the Final Four. Rose stated “I know I didn’t do anything wrong.” Memphis became aware of the violation in January 2009, a meeting wasn’t held with the NCAA till June. The Memphis Tigers most likely will be forced to forfeit their NCAA record breaking season. The NCAA held a news conference on Thursday. Coach Josh Pastner gave no comments. This is not the first time that Memphis has had to forfeit a season and it is not former coach john Calipari first time vacated a final four season either. So who is busted, the school, the coach or Rose? Well Rose is sitting pretty with his millions, I dont see the Bulls dumping him. Coach is in Kentucky right now, will the school have to pay the $bucks$ back??? I dont know about that. Rose was the #1 overall draft pick in 2008. Rose was second among rookies with an average of scoring 16.8 points a game. Rose helped the Chicago Bulls make it to 2009 playoffs, almost but not quite beating the Boston Celtics.

VICK AN EAGLE

NEWS FLASH: MICHAEL VICK HAS SNAGGED A JOB IN "THE CITY OF BROTHERLY LOVE" PHILADELPHIA!

I should have stated in my previous blog on Vick that I knew that a team that said they did not want Vick or could not use him was going to sign him. I knew it! Michael Vick has signed a 1 year 1.6 million contract with the Philadelphia Eagles with a second year team option for 5.2 million, no signing bonus or anything like that. Tony Dungy has been mentoring Vick and I believe he has been an influence with Philly's decision to sign him. Dungy was also present with Vick and Andy Reid at the press conference “I really got the sense he wanted to do some great things,” Dungy said.
Philly already has a star quarter back, Donovan McNabb and many think that his job may be at stake. Believe me when I say, "no way". The city is big enough for both quarter backs. This is great for Philly and McNabb. Head coach, Andy Reid could use Vick as a back up qb, or maybe even throw him in as a slot receiver or runningback, who knows. Philly has been booing McNabb since he was drafted, now he can share the pressure. Both QB's are talented and has different versatility. The Eagles will gain from this "risky" decision. The Eagles drafted St. Louis native, wide receiver Jeremy Maclin which I personally think will have great chemistry with Vick. I just really hate how the media is doing all this name calling, and trying to stir up controversy where there is none. Vick and Donovan will help the Eagles soar to the playoffs. I really hope that Vick plays so well that he shuts everybody up. The Patriots did defeat the Eagles, 27-25 in their first preseason game, last night(8/13/09). Signing Vick was a phenomenal move by the Philadelphia Eagles.

BATTLE OF THE QB"s

In most cases your quarterback is the leader of your offensive team. We have several NFL teams with multiple quarterbacks shooting for that starter position, a chance to lead their team to the playoffs, better yet the Super Bowl! Well, let the drums roll and the battle begin!!!

New York Jets has Kellen Clemens and drafted rookie Mark Sanchez, but there is no doubt that Sanchez will be the starting man for the Jets. I am not so sure what Clemens has done in the past because I don’t recall any special moves or plays he may have had in his career. The Jets are looking at rookie Sanchez as a Flacco, or Big Ben situation (we will see).

Then there is rookie Matt Stafford, who was drafted by the Detroit Lions and competing with 11 year veteran, Daunte Culpepper. Based on the fact that the Detroit Lions are trying to rebuild their team Culpepper might start a couple games but I am sure if he does not have that power punch, Stafford will definitely carry the Lions this season of course it really does matter what the offensive line do… they will have to really protect the rookie in order for him to really be successful this year.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers has 3 quarterbacks, Byron Leftwich, 7 years in the game, Luke McCowen is 6 years in, and then there is the rookie Josh Freeman who wants a shot at the starting position. Not so sure how this may play out, but Leftwich is most likely to start seeing as though the Bucs brought him in several months after they brought in McCowen, then recruited rookie Josh Freeman.

There will not be much battling in San Francisco case. Shaun Hill was the starter while Alex Smith was out and he wasn’t so bad. Smith would have to significantly prove that he is the man in San Fran! This is a no brainer for Mike Singletary, but we will see if he thinks too hard. My bet is Hill will get to start.

Here we go… I am no friend of Brady Quinn for holding out his rookie season (still bitter), so I give this start in Cleveland, to pro bowler, Derek Anderson. Quinn just may finish the season.

Minnesota, Minnesota *smh* Those who know me know that I am so upset with Minnesota for allowing Brett Farve to waste everybody’s time!!! I think it was a slap in the face to Tavaris Jackson. If you don’t want the guy then get rid of him!!! They brought in 31 year old, Sage Rosenfels then allowed Brett Farve to conduct a media circus within the Vikings camp all summer long, just to say… thanks for the consideration, but no thanks. Jackson was effective last year and has to really come out strong in order to reclaim his spot. Rosenfels is a 9 year veteran, but I have no idea what he has done, no really, I have no clue, I would have to look it up… (lol, smiley face).

Those are my calls, now you call it!

Pass up Millions? How Dare You...

To all my sports genius, please explain to me why any rookie would ever hold out for more pay? WHY? I can’t go another season with expressing how I feel about this! It is the dumbest decision ever! Here is the definition of ROOKIE:
1. Slang
a. An untrained or inexperienced recruit, as in the army or police.
b. An inexperienced person; a novice.
2. Sports A first-year player, especially in a professional sport.

So what you were predicted to go 1st or 7th … SO WHAT! A prediction is not for certain.
Here is the definition of PREDICTED:
1. to declare or indicate in advance; especially
2. foretell on the basis of observation, experience, or scientific reason

Now I was highly upset when Brady Quinn, Cleveland Browns QB held out for more money his rookie year and I just could not believe it. I thought maybe it was his up bringing and he thought society owed him something. I just did not get it and i still don't. Now this year we have Michael Crabtree holding out. Now, let's talk $$$ amount. Crabtree would get a $21 million guarantee for signing with the San Fransisco 49'ers(that's not including his contract), the first receiver picked, Darrius Heyward-Bey (Oakland Raiders)is getting $23.5 million guarantee, and Crabtree wants that extra 2 mill just because he was predicted to go in the top 5 but he went 10, and he was not the 1st receiver picked, now he is holding out for a couple more millions??? WHAT!!! ARE U CRAZY??? Are these little boys for real? These guys don’t even have their grown man weight yet, nor all their body hairs!!! You have got to be kidding me. This kid is threatening to reenter the draft and he wont be hurting anyone but himself if he do. You are most likely not to go in the top 20!!! You are a rookie, if you reenter the draft that means you haven’t played in a year, let’s be real, you lessen your chances to play or should I say you lessen your dollar amount. Com’on people don’t tell me that we go from making nothing to making millions and we have poor judgement before the mills even hit our bank accounts. Don't get me wrong, I know these kids work hard during college with no pay (which is a whole other story) but to go into the pro's expected it all without proving yourself before getting your raise is ridiculous to me. Let me keep going..
Ok, here is the punch of the story… Crabtree wants 7th pick money although he was picked 10th. The agent normally does the negotiating (I’m curious to why they would even suggest or encourage a rookie to hold out, but anyway). Guess who is Michael Crabtree’s agent? (wait for it, wait for it, wait for it)…. Crabtree’s agent is supposedly his cousin!!!! WTH!!! I cant wait till I purchase my football team, because I have no tolerance for this bs (dog doo doo, horse manuever, whatever). I would not want them, I would not!!! I would draft what I need and if they look and sound like trouble I would trade'um. I wish I was on defensive line too, just so I could run their @ss over... Those lineman, work their @ss off and many dont make the money those top draft pick make...!!! uugghh, enough said, I am exhausted with the thought of passing up a million dollar opportunity.

Great Midwest Football League

I am a huge football fan, but I did not realize that St. Louis has a semi pro football team till a friend of mine called me up and told me. The Midwest Chargers were founded in 2008 by Brandy Bold. The Chargers are owned by an African America Female (you know I had to throw that in there), Ms. Bold, is a product of Webster Groves High School. (You know how we St. Louisians’ always ask “what high school you go to?”) The Chargers played River City Eclipse on Saturday at Mehlville High School. I didn’t make it to the game, but the game was close and I heard it was good… sorry guys… but the Chargers came up with a loss 22-20 (insert some sort of sound affect here).
The Chargers are currently 3-6 and fulfilling their dreams to play football although they are not in the pros… These young men hold down full time jobs and support their families all the while sacking a quarterback, passing the ball or making touchdowns, doing exactly what they love. The Great Midwest Football League season starts in May and ends in August, just in time for the NFL season, so you will not miss out. There are several players from the Midwest Chargers team that has been selected to play in the 2009 GMFL All-Star game, which is September 13, 2009 in Chenos, IL. For all those interested in playing for a semi pro team or better yet the Midwest Chargers there are tryouts and you can contact Brandy Bold @ www.bbold22@yahoo.com to view team website and a full schedule www.midwestcharger.com
