Game 1 of the Boston, LA series could have been a good game. The Boston Celtics trailed the Lakers the first half of the game, anywhere between 2 and 9 points. Second half of the game it got ridiculous. The officiating was horrible from the start of the game, but the Celtics keep it close. The calls were so bad that the Celtics could not play the game the way they play it, which is hard physical basketball. The refs controlled the tempo of the game, not the Celtics or the Lakers.
Kobe got his 30 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assist that was to be expected. He also went into the fourth quarter with only 2 fouls, yet the Celtics starters were in foul trouble by the half. Ron Artest played a smart game defensively and offensively with 15 points, 4 rebounds and guarding Paul Pierce. The Lakers held Pierce to only 24 points. The Rajon Rondo from the previous series did not show up. Rondo provided 13 pts, 8 assists and 6 rebounds. He has to come harder than that if they expect to win this series. Kevin Garnett??? I was upset with his performance and he should be too… 4 rebounds??? That’s all you got to give is 4 rebounds and 16pts!!! I know Doc Rivers is not happy with their performance. I hope they realize that if they want to win this series, they need to win game 2 in L.A. then take advantage of the games on their home court.
I accept the Celtics loss, I even had it figured out that the Lakers would win game 1, at home. If they are going to lose or give the game away… let them do it, not the referees. Now, I know you guys think I am “hating” on the Lakers and trying to find a way to soften the blow of the loss, but I would like for you to think back to 2002… That’s right folks, I went there… Game 6, Chris Weber and the Sacramento Kings and “WHO”????? The L.A. freaking Lakers!!!! Referee, Tim Donaghy was making calls to create a point spreads, for money. I know you know the story. The Kings lost that series to the Lakers. Later, Donaghy was convicted and he wrote a book… basically stating that they (referees) all do it… he just got caught.
To sum it up, Ref's are fans too...
